Ingredients

Mandatory

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1.5 tbsp garlic finely diced
  • 1.5 tbsp cilantro finely chopped
  • 1 tsp soy sauce (to taste), substitute with hoisin if desired

Optional

  • sambal oelek to taste
  • hoisin or oyster sauce to taste (pick one)
  • ginger to taste
  • green onion to taste

Instructions

  • Mix all desired ingredients into small bowl. Garlic and cilantro should be very finely chopped, finer the better.
  • Stir until consistent texture and all dry ingredients generously covered with liquid base.

Notes

The beauty of this sauce is that there is zero chance you can really put whatever ingredients that you see fit. Once your sesame oil, garlic, cilantro and soy sauce are mixed together, you’ve got your base.
Spice it up or add other flavours, but keep in mind the veg and meat coming out of the hot pot are a little wet, so this “paste” will become much more liquid over time.
Rich flavour is good. Believe in yourself.
